Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Mycelium's capabilities, hardware support, and licensing.

Hardware & Compatibility

What SDR hardware is supported?

Mycelium uses the SoapySDR abstraction layer, making it compatible with a wide range of hardware, including:

  • HackRF One / Jawbreaker
  • RTL-SDR (all variants)
  • UHD (USRP)
  • Airspy / Airspy HF+
  • LimeSDR
  • BladeRF
  • PlutoSDR

Can I run Mycelium without hardware?

Yes. Mycelium includes virtual SDR drivers (VirtualRx, VirtualTx, and VirtualDuplex) that allow you to process IQ or audio files (.wav, .cf32, .mp3) as if they were live radio signals. This is ideal for development, testing, and training.

What are the minimum system requirements?

  • CPU: x86_64 or ARM64 (Raspberry Pi 4/5 supported).
  • RAM: 2GB minimum (4GB recommended for high-sample-rate missions).
  • OS: Modern Linux (Debian 12+, Ubuntu 22.04+, Fedora 40+, Arch).
  • Disk: 100MB for the core framework (plus additional for Mission Packs and data logging).

Automation & The Directive Engine

Can I create my own automated behaviors?

Absolutely. The Directive Engine is designed for end-user customization. You can create complex missions using simple CLI commands or .mycelium scripts without writing any C++ code.

Does Mycelium support remote control?

Yes. Mycelium includes a built-in MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server that enables remote control via JSON-RPC 2.0 over stdio or HTTP. This allows for integration with AI agents and external automation systems.

Can I use my own custom protocols?

Yes. Developers can create custom Protocols, Modulations, and Directive Actions using our C++20 SDK. Contact us for access to the Plugin Development Guide.

Licensing & Enterprise

How is Mycelium licensed?

Mycelium uses a tiered licensing model based on your needs:

  • Lab License: For research and development.
  • Site/Program License: For large-scale deployments and organizational use.
  • Enterprise License Agreement (ELA): For full-access and custom support.

All Mission Packs are gated by your license.lic file.

Is technical support available?

Yes. We offer an Annual Maintenance Agreement (AMA) which includes regular software updates, priority bug fixes, and technical consultation for mission planning.

Where is Mycelium developed?

Mycelium is developed by The Cyber Grove LLC, headquartered in the United States, with a focus on providing robust RF solutions for the aviation, defense, and IoT sectors.
